Darian Townsend Sets TWO Master's World Records
We are beyond proud of long-time A3 Performance athlete Darian Townsend who set TWO Master's World Records at the 2016 Arizona Master's Long Course State Championships last week! Darian, a native of South Africa, recently earned his United States citizenship. As a new US citizen, Darian has had a busy year racing for Team USA and competed at his first US Olympic trials earlier this summer. After missing the Olympic team, Darian got back in the pool and went right back to training. With a shifted focus to Master's swimming, Darian is still getting after it! At the Arizona Master's LC State Meet, Darian swam the 100 FR, 200 FR, 50 BK, and 200 IM. His collection of World Records continues to grow with the addition of two Master's World Records (Men 30-34) in the 100 FR and 200 IM.
100 FR- 49.99
200 IM- 2:02.05
In addition to his record-setting performances, Darian had phenomenal swims in the 200 FR (1:49.56) and the 50 BK (25.97).
Darian is one of the most naturally talented swimmers the sport has ever seen, and we are excited and proud that he continues to work hard and excel in the pool. Stay tuned for updates on Darian's continued successes and record-setting performances!
